Recovery Support at Home
Practical support while recovering at home
Recovery after illness, surgery or a hospital stay can take time.
Someone may be medically well enough to return home but still feel tired, less mobile, less confident or unable to manage everyday routines in the same way as before.
Live-in support can provide practical help and reassurance while the person recovers in familiar surroundings.
Grace & Goodwill helps individuals and families explore available live-in carer profiles based on experience, availability and the type of practical support required at home.
When may recovery support be useful?
Recovery support at home may be considered following:
- surgery
- a hospital admission
- illness or infection
- a fall or fracture
- reduced mobility
- a period of weakness or fatigue
- a temporary loss of independence
- a change in confidence after treatment
Some people may only require support for a short period, while others may need longer-term practical help depending on how their recovery progresses.
What can a live-in carer help with?
Depending on the arrangement, support may include:
- preparing meals and drinks
- personal care
- dressing
- mobility assistance
- shopping
- light household tasks
- attending appointments
- companionship and reassurance
- maintaining familiar routines
- other agreed practical day-to-day support
The aim is to provide support where it is needed while helping the person remain as independent as possible.
Clinical and rehabilitation support
Grace & Goodwill does not provide clinical, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or rehabilitation services.
Independent live-in carers introduced through Grace & Goodwill cannot undertake clinical or rehabilitation treatment.
Where these services are required, they must be provided separately by the appropriate qualified healthcare professionals.
The live-in carer’s role is limited to the agreed practical day-to-day support at home, such as personal care, meals, mobility assistance, companionship and support with everyday routines.
